Each year, people across the United States come together on Dr. King’s birthday to observe the only federal holiday that is designated as a National Day of Service. For the past 14 years, with the support of individuals like you, the Athens-Clarke County community has been a part of this nationwide movement.
With an average of 1,000 citizens volunteering each year, our community has truly realized the national objective of making Martin Luther King, Jr. Day not only one of celebration, but also “A Day On and Not a Day Off.” Athens Land Trust is serving as the fiscal agent for the Athens-wide MLK Day of Service. This tax deductible donation will help support the kick-off event, and the MLK Day of Service as a whole.
Stay tuned for more information on project sites, volunteer registration, and the kick-off event! Please contact Volunteer Coordinator, Katie Arney at katie@athenslandtrust.org or 706-613-0122 if you have any questions. Join the West Broad Farmers Market and Athens Land Trust for its Day of Service Celebration following the 17th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service. The celebration will include food vendors, special guests, and performances by local artists.
Service events will take place from 10 AM to 1 PM, and the Day of Service Celebration will take place from 1 PM to 3 PM.
