Open House and Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for the Historic Mack Burney Renovation

We are pleased to announce that the historic preservation work on the Mack Burney House is nearing completion. With an eye toward the home’s historic and architectural significance, ALT has been working with Athens-Clarke County, state historic preservation specialists, and most importantly, with stakeholders representing the community’s interest in preserving this important landmark. We are proud to have been entrusted with the donation of the property and for the opportunity to take on the task of rehabilitating the home.

The rehabilitation was undertaken with a focus on historic preservation while also employing environmentally-conscious building materials and construction techniques. An energy-efficient home has the added benefit of saving on utility costs for residents.

We invite community stakeholders to join us on April 14, 2023, from 4 PM to 6 PM at 853 Reese St, Athens, GA 30606, for refreshments and a ribbon-cutting ceremony as we celebrate the completion of an affordable, 4-unit rental community that preserves the historical integrity of the home, honors its history as a boarding house, and provides modern amenities that will serve future residents for years to come.
