COVID-19 Relief Program Update

While Athens Land Trust is no longer processing new applications for COVID relief funding, we are proud to have been one of several local organizations to step up and serve during this unprecedented time of need. In collaboration with the Athens-Clarke County Government and other partners, we have directed more than $785,000 to over 600 families for needs as diverse as rent, mortgage, and utilities payments; car loans; child care costs and more. We are humbled to have been able to help keep people in their homes and provide stability for those who have faced the hardship of job loss, reduced hours and income, and the emotional toll of essential workers struggling to balance their service to the public with their household needs.

ALT operated this emergency assistance work through our Education and Empowerment program. As the pandemic winds down and we have expended all relief funding made available to us, this program is shifting focus back to its core programming including HUD-certified housing counseling and homebuyer education, credit counseling and financial literacy, and youth workforce development. Our hope is that we can continue to support your financial well being through these services. We are also able to provide referrals and help connect you with additional resources for housing, financial assistance, and COVID relief. You can find referral contact information below.
