Rooting for Community Camp

Registration for the 2023 Summer session of Rooting for Community is now open!

Athens Land Trust’s Rooting for Community Camp is a place for kids to learn how to conserve, empower, and sustain communities through food, gardening, and a love for nature. Rooting for Community Camp (RFC) is open to youth ages 8 to 12.

RFC is a weekday, eight-week full-day camp. Rooting for Community Camp runs from June 5 – July 28, 2023. Camp hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM daily.

To register a camper, please download the application or contact Tony Gayles at tony@athenslandtrust.org.

Scholarships Available

Rooting for Community Camp is a grant funded program for families who might otherwise find it hard to afford or access one of the few summer day camp slots in the Athens area. Full scholarships are available for families with incomes outlined in the application below.

For other families, the cost per camper is $250 per week. Camp slots and scholarships are available on a first-come, first- served basis. If applying for a scholarship, you will hear back from us within a week of submitting your completed camp registration packet.

Our past campers have enjoyed going on field trips to Ciné, Rush Athens Trampoline Park, UGArden, Sandy Creek Nature Center, Active Climbing, Sweet Olive Farm, and more fun places around Athens! They learned about farming and gardening and loved hanging out with the chickens at the West Broad Garden. Most importantly, they learned new ways to conserve, empower, and sustain communities through food, gardening, and a love for nature.
