Maya Alandete
Young Urban Farmers Program Coordinator
Email Maya Alandete Maya has a deep passion for everything food-related; to connect with food through cooking, growing, and sharing, is to connect, too, with the earth, the seasons, the people around her, and the greater community of which she belongs. She is passionate about food justice and creating and maintaining an equitable food system for all. She is passionate about storytelling through food; food is her creative medium, giving her both the freedom of artistic expression and the opportunity to connect deeply with the people she shares her food with. As the YUF Program Coordinator, she hopes to more deeply explore the ways in which food holds the fabric of Athens together by helping young people find a sense of purpose and joy in their work in food and farming.
Maya currently cooks for the Atlanta Bushwick Book Club, a quarterly event where artists share their creative interpretation of a novel-- an exciting way for her to merge her love for story and metaphor with her love for cooking and community. She has experience working on various farms in the Atlanta and Athens areas, and first came to William's Farm as an intern in 2021. She is so excited to be back in 2026 as the Young Urban Farmers Program Coordinator.
